This weekend I’ll be hosting the 2010 Severe Weather Seminar at Wheaton College. About 400 weather spotters attended on February 20th at the Plainfield East High School Auditorium. The day was dedicated to Recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the 1990 Plainfield Tornado. There was a full day of speakers ( ) who shared valuable information about severe weather and storm safety.Ĭhief Meteorologist Amy Freeze was a featured speaker at the 2010 Plainfield Emergency Managers Agency’s ( ) Weather Spotter Seminar. The program is put on by DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, College of DuPage, and the National Weather Service. This seminar usually attracts about 600people including volunteer spotters, amateur radio operators, emergency managers, and representatives from police, fire, and public works. The Annual Advanced Spotter Training Seminar is held at Wheaton College. ( Meteorologist Amy Freeze was invited back for a second year to MC the day. On March 6, 2010 was the 19th Annual Advanced Severe Weather Conference. Amy spoke on the media’s role in severe weather coverage. There were presentations from METRA, NICOR, the Chicago Bomb Squad and the National Weather Service. The audience for this event was of 1 st Responders Police, Fire/EMS, Emergency Management, Public Works & Public Health, elected officials, and the general public. King of the Cook County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) invited Chief Meteorologist Amy Freeze to attend their severe weather conference at Triton College in River Grove.
